The Namibian Association of Metal Fabrication representing Namibia at the Manufacturing Indaba.

The Namibian Association of Metal Fabrication (NAMF) with the support of the joint project between the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) Promotion of Business Advisory and Economic Transformation Services (ProBATS) and the Ministry of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development (MITSMED) sent a delegation of four to represent Namibia at the Manufacturing Indaba which took  place in Johannesburg, South Africa on 25-26 June 2019.

The Manufacturing Indaba, of which the Minister of MITSMED Honorable Tjekero Tweya was a panel member, was a great platform for knowledge exchange which is beneficial to the local manufacturing industry. NAMF through its delegation expected to facilitate dialogues to get a better understanding of regional trade in metal, identify export and investment opportunities for the local manufacturing industry. Thus, NAMF with the support of GIZ ProBATS and MITSMED resolved to send the following delegates to represent Namibia:
  1. Mr Nico Goosen: NAMF Management Committee Vice-Chairperson
  2. Mr Festus Nuunyango: NAMF Management Committee Treasurer
  3. Mr Jayson Amwiigidha: NAMF Member
  4. Mr Gerhard Jacobsz: NAMF Member
According to Mr Nico Goosen, he was excited to engage with especially non-South African manufacturers and consumers of other African countries with an economy comparable to that of Namibia for identifying possible shared market opportunities for NAMF Members through export and investment opportunities. Festus Nuunyango who used this opportunity to network with big players in the manufacturing industry said “I feel good and privileged to have attended an event of such magnitude and will apply the  needed expertise at home."
Furthermore the delegates expressed that the Indaba was a success . NAMF is happy to report that a collaboration between two of our members  was formed during the Indaba. NAMF would therefore encourage its members to engage with one another to identify areas of collaborations.
